P is a white solid (a hydrogencarbonate). Gentle heating releases COโ (limewater โ milky) + water vapour (condensation) โ the solid hardly changes, and there is no effervescence from a dry solid. With solution Q, P effervesces (COโ again) and a light blue precipitate settles.
Q = copper(II) chloride: Ba(NOโ)โ โ no change (no sulfate); AgNOโ โ white ppt (Clโป); ammonia slowly โ light blue ppt, then both ppts dissolve in excess โ dark blue solution (Cuยฒโบ); NaOH โ light blue ppt insoluble in excess. P is a carbonate (COโยฒโป).
Indicator I is green in alkali, purple in acid. Drop-count to the end-point: Rโ = 13, Rโ = 7 โ Rโ โ twice as concentrated.
